In the homestretch...
Well, as November 4 quickly approaches, it is becoming more and more apparent that I am not going to get to all the things that I had in mind when I launched the campaign two months ago.
As promised, I will give you all an update of my progress. To give you an idea of what I've done so far:
1) I spent a lot of time on this site and the social networking sites creating a superior presence on the web.
2) I met with Stan Molart to talk about the district and issues it faces.
3) I created lots of promotional items and campaign merchandise.
4) I've attended 2 board meetings since I declared.
5) My family and I created 5 4'X8' plywood signs from scratch, using a computer image and a projector. We put those signs up in and around the district. Most of the signs included my website address hopefully getting people here to learn more about me.
6) I participated in Candidates Night in the McSwain West Campus Cafeteria answering questions from constituents in the district.
7) I spent some time networking at the Merced County Chamber Quarterly Luncheon. I met many wonderful people including Jerry Yang and the Farley Family. (Louise Farley a McSwain Resident received the Merced County Chamber's Volunteer of the Quarter award. )
8) I sent 800 oversized postcards to the frequent voters of the district that included my picture and a chalk board and a letter from me.
What's left to do? Well, on Monday evening, all 3,000 constituents will be receiving a previously recorded call from the campaign urging them to vote for me the next day.
Tuesday night is the election party at Dino and Alicia Migliazzo's Party Barn. It will be fun.
I'd like to make sure I thank everyone who has helped me. I'd especially like to thank my wife who has been by my side through all of this. My father and mother, Robert and Fernanda who have served as my campaign manager and treasurer deserve a large amount of gratitude also. I can't forget my Brother and Sister who spent time painting and putting signs up. My in-laws, Alpha and Sherri, have been very supportive. Dino and Alicia Migliazzo are opening their home and party barn for our election night celebrations. In addition they gave me guidance drawing from Dino's experience running for the Merced Community College District Board. I need to thank my extended family and friends who have donated time, money, sweat and tears to helping me succeed.
Wish us luck as we enter the homestretch!
