Whitfield to run for McSwain School Board

Tim Whitfield, a 25-yearold son of a school bus driver and a teacher, is seeking election to the Board of Education of McSwain Union Elementary School District.
“I believe in core family values and a quality education for all children," Whitfield says. "I want to make sure the tradition of greatness at McSwain School continues far into the future."
Whitfield joins six other candidates on the slate including three incumbents vying for three positions.
What motivates you to want to become a board member?
Over the past year I have been challenged by adversity in many aspects of my life starting with broken appliances and ending with failing health. See, I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and depending on which doctor you talked to was in late stage 2 or early stage 3. The cancer had metastasized to other organs. Defeating the Cancer was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. In those lonely hours in the clinic with only my wife by my side, I decided to live. Not to just live, but to really live.
