Schwarzenegger calls special legislative session to push school reform

To help qualify California for federal stimulus funds, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has set up a September showdown with teacher unions over the issue of merit pay and school choice.
It's a case of education reform making odd bedfellows, as California's Republican governor on Thursday ordered a special session of the Legislature to push the agenda of Democratic President Barack Obama and challenge practices dear to Democrat-leaning teacher unions.
