About Tim


Tim Whitfield resides with his wife Amy Whitfield on the Gipe Family ranch west of Merced and south of Atwater. He is the son of a school bus driver, Robert Whitfield, and a teacher, Fernanda Whitfield. He grew up southeast of Merced in a little community called Plainsburg. Tim comes from a family who has devoted their lives to education. In addition to his parents, Amy has a California Teaching Credential and various other family members are or have been involved in education.

Tim holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Social Science from Merced College.

Whitfield is a partner involved in a small website business in Atwater called Sunny Day Online and helps out on the family cattle ranch, Sunny Day Shorthorns. He also works for the California Department of Justice as an Associate Information Systems Analyst. Whitfield was formerly employed by Plainsburg Union Elementary and Snelling-Merced Falls Union Elementary as a Computer Technician/Aide.

In addition to his employment, Tim Whitfield currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer and Board Member of the California Shorthorn Breeders Association and is Treasurer and Board Member of the Fresno based Underground Gardens Conservancy.   Past President of the California Junior Shorthorn Association. He was appointed to the Board of Directors for the East Merced Resource Conservation District by the Merced County Board of Supervisors. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Guardians of Jericho, a not for profit Kansas corporation. Tim is also a member of the American Shorthorn Association, Carolwood Pacific Historical Society and Friends of the Merced County Fair. In his student years he held various positions in Student Government, Junior Breeders Associations, 4-H and FFA.
