Merced Sun Star: Seven school board candidates seek seats at McSwain

Tim Whitfield

Whitfield, 25, decided to run for the board after a life-changing experience.

“I had some scary events that happened in my life; I just got over a battle with cancer,” he said. “It made me realize that I need to get involved in the community. I just realized that I need to serve and I need to give back to the community that gave me so much in life.”

In the homestretch...

Well, as November 4 quickly approaches, it is becoming more and more apparent that I am not going to get to all the things that I had in mind when I launched the campaign two months ago.

As promised, I will give you all an update of my progress.  To give you an idea of what I've done so far:

1)  I spent a lot of time on this site and the social networking sites creating a superior presence on the web.

2) I met with Stan Molart to talk about the district and issues it faces.

Time for education reform with Governor

http://www.myvalleynews.com/story/41321/

Friday, October 9th, 2009.
Issue 41, Volume 9.

The Governor has called for a special session on education reform to enact changes needed to make California eligible and competitive for billions of dollars in federal funding.

Ballots are beginning to arrive.

Someone sent me a digital copy of their ballot and my absentee ballot was received yesterday. I would love to vote in person on Tuesday, November 3, but because my precinct has less than 250 people, they poll us all via absentee ballot.  But I am so excited to see my name on there.  They have me listed as third.

Since I don't have permission from the other candidates to post this scan of the ballot, we marked out there names.

Schwarzenegger calls special legislative session to push school reform

Updated: 08/20/2009 10:27:54 PM PDT

To help qualify California for federal stimulus funds, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has set up a September showdown with teacher unions over the issue of merit pay and school choice.
